When the Steve Baldwin character was stabbed in the boat, what did he mean by saying the "strangest thing?" before dying?

That Verbal just stabbed him?
Since it's not entirely clear if that scene really happened or if it's just Kujan's perspective, I think he was just gonna say that someone stabbed him out of nowhere or that he was walking and suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back.

He saw verbal without the limp. He hadn't quite g=figured out verbal was Keyser when Keyser stabbed him
