I like the underwater city bit, but the end when they uncover the plaque on dry land and it turns out to be Everest does it for me!

I loved it when Helen singlehandedly wrecked the trimaran or however it's spelled and Enola smarts off at Kevin and he cuts off their hair. Then they sit there and he starts to climb up a ladder and asks if they said something and they both mumble no. Lots of gems in this movie.

Already the first scene with the Mariner taking back the stolen lemon shrub from the other sailor, while both were hunted by Smokers.

Yep. That's when I was hooked. The scene with the reveal that the dirt came from
the underwater city was awesome the first time I saw it because I didn't expect it.
And of course any Dennis Hopper scene was good.

Some scenes of this movie, including the one you mentioned, are very beautiful.
I for one love the under water kiss.
Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
