      If I remember rightly the extended cut addressed this, Costner says something about sea salt being tougher on the filters.

            Just think of all the nasty crap we use on a daily basis. Dissolving over hundreds of years, mixing with the sea water. No thanks, I'll drink my pee lol

              They Only got Water now. Imagine all The crap that is on The sea. They have trouble finding Water when 99% is made of It. I am sure You drink This Water And could die.
