Marie's most annoying moments

I respectfully disagree. She didn't "make" either one a cop or not a cop who were both trained and not trained to deal with that situationshe would have been protective of either of her sons no matter what
Debra thought he needed "growing balls" because he's disgusted by other people's germs?? WTF? You like strangers sneezing on you?? We all want attention when we're feeling sick, whether we're really sick or not
And "Ummm, I watched the episode." Debra did NOT have to be rude and disrespectful to address the stressful situation. It makes more impact on someone being ignorant to the situation to remain calm and not give them a reason to blame it on them.
Amy said "And I have to say! I don't care about this right now!" Yes, that was rude. Marie was not.
Marie was who she was! People are human, not perfect! But she was never disrespectful, no matter how imposing she may have been in asking a simple question. Ignorant (look up the definition)-yes! Obnoxiousnot! You need to have a real mother-in-law from hell! -

Debra told Marie it wasn't a good time. She says "No knock knock jokes now, we're heading upstairs." And Marie was ignoring her and trying to tell Geoffrey to tell his joke. Finally, Debra snapped and told her bluntly that they were not telling jokes, they're going upstairs for baths.
Marie has eyes. She could see it was not a good time when Debra is wrestling with screaming kids. It's rude for her to just walk into a house that isn't her's, bringing along friends, then not having the sense to know she came at a bad time.
Frank even had to stand up for Debra.
Frank
"Who the Hell is Marie to come barging in, demanding joy, when Debra's wrestling with the damn kids?!"
Ray
"She didn't have to be so rude!"
Frank
"Rude is the only thing that gets through to her! How do you think I got the way I am?! I used to be a gentleman!"
Marie is not someone you can politely say no to. She has to keep pushing until you just shut her down. Then she'll get an attitude because you stood up to her.
Amy was very patient with her, and Marie kept pushing. So Amy just plainly told her she didn't care about it at that moment -which was fair, when they just got back from their honeymoon.
Marie was being overbearing at Amy's shower. She finally snapped and told Marie that she didn't need her. Marie gets pouty and leaves.
I don't think Debra, Frank or Amy are wrong to be fed up with someone who always has to get their own way. Even Lois comments that Marie shouldn't be upset about not getting her way, for once.
If someone politely tells you no, or that it's not a good time, and you ignore them, then they are within rights to get fed up with you.
Marie was close to being a narcissist. Everything was about her, or how it made her feel. She thinks about her own feelings before anyone else's. In the DVD commentary, Phil Rosenthall stated that Marie was the villain / dictator of the show by the end.
If you're gonna pretend to cut her hair, at least put some scissors in your hand!

Well what is Marie's excuse for being rude? So yeah. Frank, as he said, has been living with Marie for 40 years. So he'd know. Marie is someone you have to get short with. She won't take a kind rebuff.
Marie was rude when she decided to just barge into someone else's house w/o calling first, or knocking, then not leaving when she could see everything was hectic.
Marie brought that embarrassment onto herself when Debra tells her that no jokes were going to be told, they were going upstairs.
And even if Debra was rude, Marie had some coming given all the times she's insulted Debra and put her down.
You can get a point across to some people easily. But others, like Marie won't listen to you when you try to be polite. They'll ignore you -taking kindness for weakness, and keep doing whatever it is they're doing, until you have finally had enough and snap. Everyone has a boiling point, but some people push everyone until it's reached.
If you're gonna pretend to cut her hair, at least put some scissors in your hand!

Not with
everyone
, you can. People are different. You can not treat everyone the same way -because everyone is not the same person.
It's like disciplining children.
Some you can straighten out with a stern lecture.
Some children only respond to spanking.
Some you may have to yell at.
Some you may have to take privileges from -no phone, computer, music, etc.
Marie is someone you have to get sharp with to get a point across, because otherwise, she won't listen to you. She'll keep right at something, as if she hasn't heard you.
If you're gonna pretend to cut her hair, at least put some scissors in your hand!

To each his own, I suppose. Personally, I would choose my battles with Marie living across the street, and to flip out over a simple knock-knock joke just isn't worth it. I'm more like Amy, I would have had him tell the joke- both to break the tension of wrestling with the kids and to keep the peace with Marie.

You are a Marie apologist. Marie is a spoiled brat and she is manipulative towards everyone in her family. And Debra and Amy we're justified when they went off on her. I wouldn't even consider Amy going off, she tried to tell Marie politely that thank you notes weren't her concern right now but Marie wants everyone to do what she wants when she wants. If more people demanded Marie act like an adult rather than a spoiled 5yr old their lives would be better.
As to her most annoying moments, also every episode of every season ahe was a nightmare.- BVS 2. TWS 3. Avengers

For me, these are Marie's most annoying episodes. In no order, BTW
Robert's Wedding: Not exactly the right time to question if Robert is marrying Amy because he loves her or because he felt forced to. She had weeks before the wedding to talk to him about it
Marie's Meatballs: While I can understand her being afraid of being replaced, it was still wrong of her to sabotage the recipe
Marie's Vision: When she told Frank they had a loveless marriage
Thank You Notes: Robert and Amy just got back from their honeymoon. Give them some time to relax a little, sheesh!
Golf For It: The way she guilt trips both Ray and Robert
Jealous Robert: She and Debra were both equally evil in this one. They had no right to interfere in Robert and Amy's lives like that
Older Women: Getting upset with Frank when he didn't even do anything this time
The Toaster: Not only the fact that she traded it in, but she didn't even seem to care how hurt Ray was over it. "We're the ones who have to get these presents."
Not So Fast: Her attitude when she and Frank came back
Angry Sex: How she says she's going to get the twins haircuts. That's not up to her
Plenty others -

Marie is always telling Debra that she has lost control of her children but it's Marie's fault when she adds fuel to the fire. How many times has Marie steared the conversation away from the others if she feels it's not going her way, by offering the kids lolly pops and usually right before dinner. Debra has the patience of Jobe with Marie always butting in and over riding her child rearing, house cleaning. I don't know how your Mother In Law was leedeelee but did you manage to stop her with a polite message and did she take it? You can be rude or you can be sharp with someone, I think Debra was sharp with Marie and who could blame her.

Dont forget what Marie put Debra through in The Shower, both at the beginning and at the end. I hate that episode. Because of the unfortunate circumstances Debra suffered, Marie had her over a barrel and that made me legitimately angry. And like always, Ray supported Marie's actions and never once tried to understand Debra's situation. He wasn't at the shower so he didnt know what Marie said and did to make Debra so upset. It wouldn't have made a difference anyway, as he is such a pathetic mama's boy that he will always kiss up to Marie and try to make her happy - as all the males in that family are scared to death of her. That was confirmed in this series more than once!

When Debra asks if they can spend Christmas Eve with her parents and Christmas Day with Marie and Marie says Debra is ruining Christmas because God forbid she want to she her own family and the kids other grandparents on Christmas? Or how pouty and upset she got that Debra's parents were going to be in the family portrait because apparently her family is the only one that matters.

I thought Marie is a sociopath. She thinks only for herself and takes kindness for weakness.
The episode that pissed me off with Marie was the episode Marie constantly insults Debra on Thanksgiving. Debra tries her damndest to be nice but it backfires. Debra tries to get everyone else to agree but no one says or does anything about it. I forget the episode name, but that that's the episode that made me hate Marie [and the family] the most. -

Another is when Debra said something to Frank about her seeing him legitamely happy, and after Frank went outside Marie took offense and made Debra out to be a snob and thinking Deb was better than them.
I forget that episodes name too. It was after Robert and Amy get married.
