If I remember right, they used it at the Oscars last year, too, underscoring some kind of montage.

This has been used in many trailers, although I think the themes from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story are the most common used.

Its heavily based on Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto, but Edelman puts enough of a twist on it, it's gorgeous.

I'd never heard that Tchaikovsky piece before looking it up on Youtube. The first three or four notes are definitely quite similar, if not identical, but to be honest I like Edelman's composition more. It's a gorgeous and anthemic idea, whereas the Tchaikovsky piece seems more a vehicle for a virtuoso piano soloist - and I hate pieces like that for a variety of reasons (not the least being that I've simply never been a fan of hammering pianos!)

It is played during the closing credits of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Winter Olympic Closing Credits.

It's recently been used in the Pacific Life commercial where the whale flips it's tale on the water.

Anyone know where I can purchase/download this score (one of the film's few highlights)? It's not found on my iTunes site (just the sequel's). I also tried a torrent, but that gave up 52% of the way through, ugh.

I know this is a reply to an almost 3 year old post but just wanted to let you know that the soundtrack is now available on iTunes Store and Apple Music.

One of the most sweeping and memorable scores in movie history and not even nominated for an Oscar. SMH
