Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Eye for an Eye

I would love to see a remake of this movie! I think the idea has great potential and Eye for an Eye isn't bad, but they could've make something bigger.
Does somebody else think that, too? Who would you cast?
Personally, I think Viggo Mortensen would be the perfect choice to play Ed Harris' character in a remake And I would choose Clint Eastwood as Director
    What do you think?

While that sounds like a good idea, it's more likely that we will get about 20 million rip-offs of this before we get a decent remake.
But yes, Clint Eastwood would do a great job as director. But I wonder who would play who in this remake? Viggo sounds good, but I don't think anyone can top Keifer Sutherland as the despicable Robert Doob.

You're so right! Nobody can replace Kiefer Sutherland as Robert Doob, so maybe i would cast him again! That would be a change, but it could work. Robert Doob is a loner, who works at a grocery store, his character doesn't necessarily have to be in his 20ies, it could also work if he's 15 years older
But who should play the mother?

I could probably picture someone like say. Angelina Jolie. The ill fated Julie McCann should be an unknown actress.

I think remakes are overdone lately and completely unnecessary, so no.

For Robert Doob..Mickey Rourke, or is he too old?
He is awesome at playing lowlifes.
              Karen McCann: Geena Davis?
Julie: Miley Cyrus? OMG would people HATE Robert Doob!

Or love Robert Doob. The girl from the Torklesons is one thing, but Miley Cyrus

This movie had already been remade in India titled DUSHMAN(enemy){http://www.imdb.com/board/10189492/}, in the Indian version the twin sister wants to take the vengeance. It was a very well made movies, though too much violent for Indian audiences but yet powerful.

Please never let Hollywood remake this film! It may just seem like a glorified lifetime movie to some but I really like it and besides, no one can replace Kiefer Sutherland as Robert Doob! You just love to hate that guy (in the movie I mean.) He can play such epic bad guys!

I have to agree with mrs and revol. I'm getting sick of remakes, they've been WAY overdone these last few years. This was a good movie for it's time, but I don't think it would have good remake potential except for maybe a TV movie on lifetime, which lifetime has already done so many similar movies already. I swear, this last decade has got to be the worst one I've seen yet in my life for movies. I can't think of much of anything made within the last ten years or so that could really become nostalgic for generations to come, writers have gotten so lazy! Apparently, they've run out of good ideas, so all these remakes are a cop out.

I just thought about a remake because i love the plot so much and think this movie could've been so much better.
But overall you guys are right, they made way to many remakes lately

I like this movie a lot and am not a remake hater, per se, but probably the main reason I wouldn't like a remake of this movie is because Sally Field's character would probably have to be in her late 30s at the most and as I was just watching this again I was thinking about how Sally looked more like a real person than today's actresses that apparently have to look stunning, no matter what the role is. That's not to say Sally Field isn't attractive but she was 50 and had actual wrinkles when she made this movie and just looked more like a real person than most of today's actresses. Today, the mom would look like a model, wrinkle-free, and boob jobbed, and the rape scenes would probably be more graphic. So, no, can't say I'd really like a remake of this movie. Oh yes, as has been said already, Kiefer does slime so well. I almost feel the need to shower just watching him in this role, he's so disgusting.
Angelina Jolie as the mom?? Cringeworthy.

That depends if Hollywood would allow a frightening rape scene (both of them) be filmed and shown in theaters.
