His poor wife did not deserve her fate. Jerry deserves prison for life.
But in the beginning its clear Jerry has his balls in Wades grip. I dont jnow if Jerry is really inept or not, but Wade is a control freak. He doesn't make eye contact at the table, gives his opinion whenever he wants.
I can see how Jerry wants his own life.

Meh. I found Lester Nygaard to be a more sympathetic character (at least until episode 8).

He wants his own life so he has his wife kidnapped? There's no excuse in real life for what he did.
To hell with him, I thought he was an idiot and a loser. His son's mother and grandfather are dead, father's going to prison.

By the end of the film, Jerry is (if indirectly) responsible for 7 murders, including those of his wife and father-in-law. His combination of greed, desperation and incompetence got him to that point, but part of me felt just a little sorry for him. He was obviously in WAY over his head. Perhaps, I felt sorry for him because Macy is such an amazing actor, but that shouldn't enter into it.
I can also see why others wouldn't feel the least bit sorry for him.

Well yea, when Wade says to him that Jean and Scotty never have to worry ( about money ). That's a rather cold-hearted way of saying Wade could care less about Jerry, especially to his face.
It doesn't help at all that Jerry works at a place owned by his father-in-law. If he worked at some other dealership he would have been more independent and more confident and perhaps not so prone to doing illegal things.

I agree with everything "wainot" said. He wasn't planning on destroying his life but got in way over his head. His desperation was almost unbelievable.

Yes, Jerry's incompetence may be why Wade doesn't seem to have any trust or faith in him but Wade definitely seems controlling and unsupportive. Also he pretty much just stole Jerry's idea of that parking lot and had no real interest in working with him as a partner.

Not really. Hiring 2 guys you don't even know to kidnap your wife to me is a sick thing to do. Frankly the only character besides Jerry's own father in law, son, and wife that I sympathize with is the cop Marge Gunderson.

The only one I feel bad for is Scotty, the son.
He loses his mom, his grandpa and now his dad going off to prison.
                      What will happen to him?
Foster homes or going off to be with other relatives?
For his sake, I would hope it would be the latter.

                      We just act like it.
