    1. I doubt he would have gotten fired.
Seems like a really lame excuse or reason.
Just for expressing himself and making a suggestion?
If he was an office drone in a cubicle, sure, but he was one of the top dogs.
They would have given him a warning not to do that again and suggested he quit if he didn't like the way they were doing business.
    2. I doubt that he can use their phones and resources in trying to persuade clients to stick with him.
He does not have an office space set up yet. Nothing.
And he is trying to get them to break their contract with the sports agency.
Which I am not sure if that could even be legal at that point.

There could have been political reasons for them to force him out of the company. Sometimes if someone stays too long in a position they grow sick of them, especially when their vision doesn’t align with upper management, which Jerry proved with the memo. What was unrealistic was them sending his former protege and underling Bob Sugar to fire him. Completely unethical and a recipe for a PR/HR disaster

It was the old movie trope of, "We are going to do business in a public place instead of the office."
Watch the TV show Cheers where you see them do that **** all the time.

Haha I remember once I overheard this banker/lender was holding a meeting with a young couple about their mortgage application IN A COFFEE SHOP within earshot of everyone. Discussing their credit and loan details in public and everything. Always struck me as highly unprofessional.

I hang out at my local coffee shop quite a bit and I've overhead a lot. Two priests talking shop, a job interview for a traveling sales position, wedding plans, a strategy meeting for a local candidate.

              Agreed.
1st part: A slap on the wrist, and everybody forgets about it afterwards, more likely a few days. Call it a mid-life crisis.
2nd part: The contract precludes him from stealing clients from the company, or risk a big lawsuit.
