It's that OTT bitter, divorced man-hating teacher who is hideous and shouldn't have been there.
    Why shouldn't she be there?

Because she was highly annoying, never funny and added nothing to the show.

Can't agree, I laugh at him every time his eye bulges out. Plus that time in "Is It Fall Yet?" Where he screams "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! PEANUT BUTTER!" I always died laughing at that part .

Both fit in their ways.Characters like that do exist in society. I do find Mr.DeMartino funny but also sad. He doesn't make enough, students are indifferent .He can't hide his frustration.

I agree with some of the earlier sentiments. These teachers weren't necessarily meant be funny but instead ironic representations of the most obvious/exaggerated teacher personalities that color high school life. Mr. O'Neill wasn't funny either. I liked Mr. DeMartino I at least found him believable. Ms. Barch was funny but there were times the man-hating got a bit old.

He seems to be the Daria version of Mr. Buzz-Cut, while the other teacher is like Van Driessen, though a little less of a hippy.

His interactions with Brittany and Kevin talking to them like they were like 6 years old were some of the best in the entire run of the show.

I think he had some great dialogue, and his outbursts are very similar to Jake, just more insulting. Jake is another character I love, so I like him.
Mr. DeMartino - (at Walmart type store, pushing cart filled with toilet paper) Hold out, Anthony. It's almost noon! You can do it!
Kevin - Mr. D! I thought you were at the barbecue! What are you doing here?
Mr. DeMartino - I'm sorry if my SHOPPING CART has CONFUSED you, Kevin! I'm here for the command performance of MADAME BUTTERFLY in the AUTOMOTIVE department!

I totally agree. I feel he's an avatar for all teachers who'd love to just tell their students exactly what they think.
So many stories, so little time.
