Does any one know what that gesture was supposed to be?
That arm gesture Daria made in the opening credits each time following some one having fallen down; what was that about?

I thought it was meant that she was supposed to do that before they fell to stop it from happening . Part of her sarcasm. I might be wrong but that's been my impression. It's like Opps!

        "do that"
The "that" being the same thing the other people were doing right before they themselves fell, yeah?

She was supposed to hit the ball. The ball bounces past her, another girl dives for it and hurts herself, and then Daria sticks her arm out, as a delayed reaction to the ball. Showing her lack of interest in the game.

            Mary Jane has it right.
Daria was being sarcastic for not hitting the ball back. I know I did similar gestures when I did PE the class I loathed the most.

P.E. was a waste of time. If I wanted to run around and get all sweaty, I could do that at home.
