Why weren't Brittany and Quinn friends?

They're both in the "popular" crowd at school. Sure they're in different grades but when I was in high school, the popular kids of all grades intermingled. Brittany and Quinn are both superficial and shallow, although Quinn is obviously much smarter than Brittany. Quinn was busy with he fashion club and Brittany had cheerleading but I find it strange that they never really interacted at all.

Same here. In fact, my best friend's sister was a grade lower than us and we NEVER hung out with her at school (barely even saw her at school). And my friend and her sister were very close; but we just hung out with the people in our grade and the younger sister hung out with people in her grade.

I think they were in different grades. Brittany was in Daria's class, while Quinn was behind them. I used to think it was weird that Brittany and the Fashion Club didn't intermingle, but now that I think about it it makes sense. Brittany was part of the ditzy cheerleader circle, while Quinn was more part of the 'mean girls' clique. Other than general popularity, they wouldn't have had that much in common. In fact, they'd probably be threatened by each other.

I believe that Brit, though a ditsy cheerleader, had a heart of gold. Quinn, on the other hand, wasn't actually that much of a ditz, and she chose to hang with the mean girl clique. Their two personalities wouldn't necessarily jive with one another.

There was also the fact that Britney was shown to be a ditzy sweetheart , but super-jealous where her boyfriend Kevin was concerned . Quinn was shown as kind of a boyfriend stealer . So it makes sense that they weren't really friends .

The more I watch(I only really got into the show recently)the more I like Quinn. I find her reactions so hilarious.I like how over time she doesn't let Sandy get to her and even acts indifferent to her. Daria and Quinn also started getting along better later in the series. I would see her outgrowing the Fashion Club (or it's equal latter on)
Brittany as some have pointed out was in Daria and Jane's grade. Brittany doesn't seem like the type that sees a need for a girlfriend.She wants a boyfriend,fiance or husband.
