Was Jon Voight THAT bad?

I think most people here are full of
and so critical. Saying one of the best monster films is crap. What do you say about the real crap ones?
Anaconda is one of the rare higher grade creature features.
I agree
Jon boy's performance is a standout
, of any movie, because this is one of the
very rare roles
where an actor is being
something other
than himself, and acting, bringing more to it
no one else could.
Overacting? Such a character could exist,
larger than life.
He was a
horror to behold.
Makes Quint in Jaws look like a straight-faced fancy boy, but doesn't necessarily jump the shark, err snake. -

Voight killed it in this and is really the only reason to see it. Pretty much every line out of his mouth as well as his little mannerisms are hilarious, and when me and my buddies are in need of a good laugh we start quoting Sarone.

Did you ever see The Princess Bride? Well Jon Voight went to the same language school as Mandy Patankin. He sounded exactly like him. I half expected him to say "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die".
Lame movie, stupid special effects.

I think that Jon Voight was having the time of his life making that movie, just having a ball. It is not in anyway "bad acting", he's just acting over-the-top like so many actors in B-movies from the 50's, he plays with the clich of the usual villains and takes those clichs to another dimension. I think he's hilarious in Anaconda!

Did Jon Voight get a Razzie for that?
Edit: nominated for
Anaconda
, not won (1998)

Apparantly, 1998/1997 was a good year for him with nominations for
Most Wanted
(1997) and
U Turn
(1997) also.

I loved the way he portrayed that character. He was a little bit crazy after all. His despising expressions were great: a man so full of himself.
But i would have kicked his @ss much earlier in the movie..!

I don't see any mention of Superbabies. If you think this is bad (and it is) he sunk even lower for Superbabies in 2004 - again with a terrible foreign accent. Compared to Deliverance and Urban Cowboy, it's what I'd call really hitting bottom - but I guess he needed to do what he needed to do.

I think it was the "I'm evil" sneer he wore for every shot of the entire movie that kicked it to another level.
Guy hops on your boat in a rain storm and comes up with an "I'm evil" sneer before he delivers his first line, just throw him back overboard. -

He plays a bad guy who is soooooo bad that he scowls during the entire movie. I can't figure out if he was just trying to be over the top big time or he thought that he had to change his look to be mean and nasty.

In my honest opinion, everyone in this did a great job.
His two razzies are ridiculous.
It gets so much hate when it's just a fun movie.
