Because it's clearly loosely based on a true story. They sure took liberty in the final scene wit the fairies don't ya think lol and let's not forget the boy

Not to mention the photos were in fact released in 1919 - after WWI.

It says 'based on a true story' i dont think thats misleading.

It's title is "Fairy Tale : A True Story" so yes they took advantage. They should've just said "based on a true story" as they changed many of the factual events.

I just don't get why people would want to make a family movie of depth and character around a hoax. That being said, I thought it made an entertaining film, it just should have dropped the based in reality bit cause when people actually look it up, there's nothing there but disappointment.
