Has Segal ever been punched in the face?

I dont remember the movie, bt there was a comment made on a dvd commentary (might have been Blade II) made about one of Seagal's rules about not being hurt in his own movies. I think that's why he comes off as so impervious in all of his films. It gets old after awhile though. I mean I can understand that aikido is an incredible fighting style that can disable multiple opponents in seconds but even Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris got put down in their movies. Better yet, even Superman got put on his a$$ a few times in movies.

Well, he took a pretty good beating at the end of "Above the Law," but he was tied up then he broke free and killed five bad guys in about ten seconds. He got knocked around a bit during the final showdown with Screwface in "Marked for Death," but nothing major. What's particularly amusing about that scene is that you can tell that it's not Seagal getting smacked around in many of the shots, but rather a much shorter stuntman wearing a very poor Seagal-esque wig.
You're right, though, he does walk through the vast majority of his movies without breaking a sweat, and it gets old after a while. Heroes are usually judged based on the quality of their adversaries; that doesn't say much about him, does it? -

I want to say that I can't believe it, but I honestly can believe it as a rule that Seagal never gets hurt in his films. I have trouble believing that someone is so arrogant that they want to be portrayed as being able to take on the world without ever getting hurt, but the proof is in the putting.
Speaking of Blade, I think that Wesley Snipes' portrayal of Blade is the way that Steven Seagal's character should be. Yea, he kicks everybody's ass, but he still gets struck by one person while he's beating up another, he gets jumped from behind, he gets hit with a cheap shot, andhe actually has that opponent or two who can actually hurt him.

That's the way I look at it. If Norris and Lee got hit from time to time, so should Seagal. Is he trying to convince us that he's better than Bruce or Chuck? Maybe. Even so, you can still be given a run for your money and come across as the baddest man on the planet. Worst case scenario, he could fight the final opponent while injured or have something thrown in his eyes which momentarily blinds him. If Bruce Lee had Chuck Norris and Chuck Norris had David Carradine, Steven Seagal should have that someone who takes him to the limit in one of his movies.

You suppose that they filmed the scene with Seagal whooping the guy from beginning to end, then went back and through in "Steven Seagal" so that the villain could get a couple of shots in? Still, I have to see that just for the hilarity of Seagal shrinking and getting smacked around.

He's got some cool villains. They're just never utilized. You are right though. Superman's achievements wouldn't be as great if it wasn't for Kryptonite. Of course the invincible guy is going to win. It's when the hero has some vulnerability that you're drawn into the story.
Also, in addition to Marked for Death, I remembered that he did get struck by Quintero in Hard to Kill. He was thrown against a shop, punched in the stomach, and then punched in the face. Afterwards, he hauled ass on Quintero. Honestly though, I think that Seagal would have had a better career if the action was more like it was in that film. This presses a gun against his throat, this guy shoots him, that guy lays a hand on his shoulder to grab him before being thrown to the the ground, and this guy actually hits him a few times; he still kicks everybody's ass by the time its over.

Definitely check it out. It's hilarious, and once you spot the Dopple-Seagal, you can't miss him.

I don't know, but whichever Wayans was in "The Glimmer Man" had a line of dialogue along the lines of "He was like Bruce Lee but better!" Since Seagal produced that particular piece of crap, and has never been shy about having other characters in his movies talk about how great he is, I imagine that line was his idea. -

Yea, that's never happened. I'm pretty sure Screwface got the most offense of any of his opponents and a good portion of that offense was done against the double mentioned earlier.
Thanks Thingyblahblah3 for the suggestion. That scene was laughably bad.

I punched him in the face once.
This was a few years back, in a bar.
I noticed Seagal giving me a dirty look - not sure why, probably jealous of my handsome features and fabulous physique - so I walks over and BLAM!.
Left him on the floor, out cold.
