That part always cracks me up btw. As if guys in combat couldn't (and didn't) get raped. Yeah sure. Only women can. Right.

The problem with having women in such roles is guys will naturally try to protect them which has been proven in real world combat operations. So it becomes a problem. Also most US wars are in Muslim countries. So the chance of a captured woman getting raped are very high.

At least one of our female POW's in the short Desert Storm ground war was raped or at least badly molested by her Iraqi captors.

Yes, they could do the same to a guy, and yes, men get raped too. However, women get raped much, much,
much
more often in these situations. A female POW is at a very high risk of being raped. Depending on the enemy, practically guaranteed. What's more, men are more protective of women than of other men. Seeing a woman tortured affects men much more than seeing another man enduring the same torture. It's protective instincts. So yes, a single woman would easily compromise the entire squad. In the film, too, the guys didn't care that other guys were beaten and traumatized. But traumatize a woman, and they turn their backs in protest.

There was a show on Oprah where apparently women in the marines are expected upon joining to be raped and are raped. They are told upon enlisting to always be on pills even if they were not sexually active so that they wouldn't get pregnant when they are raped by their peers and superiors. They are also expected to keep silent about the ordeal. It seems like everyday life for a female soldier in the US marines.
