I'm not a parent but I can say for sure that I would never abandone my child like Bill had done. I don't care if he or she was the worst child in the world. I would never abandone my child.

The husband was awful and selfish. And "Connie" what was she thinking allowing Birdee to bring their daughter to the TV show where Bernice would find out her father was having an affair !??? Connie was just as heartless and selfish. The two deserved eachother.

What kind of a woman would (A) become involved with her best friend's significant other (boyfriend or husband) and (B) reveal the affair on live television?

She's her father. Of course she's gonna want to see him again at some point to either forgive him personally or try to repair their relationship.

according to this movie and many other, this seem the norm in american society, since berdee herself abandon her father like a piece of trash in a nursing home.
