she felt wooden to me. She felt like she was sleep walking the whole time. I only saw her have a real emotion like 2, 3 times of the entire movie.
most of the movie she felt very wooden, like she had no emotions.
I think all the people giving her praise in this thread are just big fans of her or just Taratino mega fans.
I have seen her do better, much better. that's what's crazy about it, she can be emotional and be good in her roles. But here it felt like watching a robot. -

No she didn't, and you sound like someone who hasn't lived in the real world if you find her performance lacking in authenticity. To call this movie a classic while saying her performance ruined it makes no sense either.

No definitely not trolling. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT REAL ACTING IS!! Pam Grier couldn't act her ass out of a box. She had one expression through the whole film, an expression that looked like she just downed two bottles of NyQuil then did a line of Coke to stay awake

I totally agree, her performance always bothered me and kept me from really enjoying the movie. You know how she sweet talks and manipulates Ordell and Ray? Well it seemed like she was doing that the ENTIRE movie; acting. Even when talking to Max and supposedly being genuine, she was so stiff and wooden that it seemed like it was all an act and she was reading lines she cooked up and thought the other person wanted to hear. Made it really difficult to determine her true motivations, and even rewatching, it seems like she's just playing Max. But she's not, it's just her acting.
There were a few moments where she seemed strong and sassy and perfect for the role, but for the most part she just seemed so disconnected. -

Like Ordell told Max, she is too cool for school. JB was a 44 year old woman who has been to jail and seen it all so there was no reason for her to play it but calm and cool. I thought PG was perfect in the role.

Grier's no Helen Mirren but I think she's just one of those people who has natural appeal and screen presence; I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Even the much younger and attractive Bridget Fonda didn't hold a candle to Grier.
