Trump is at war with Harvard. They're going to let in loads of right wingers through a rebranded DEI program. It'll take some time before it tanks the Harvard brand completely but before that happens their DEI grads will already be in positions of power.

Montana is too large and the population too spread out. West Virginia is the 10th smallest state by area, the 12th smallest in terms of population, and were already the reddest state in the last election. Trump won every single county. A full takeover is really just a matter of targeting a few college campuses
