So basically it's the kids-friendly version where people keep their underwear on and say 'son of a gun' instead of 'son of a bitch' (with a little help from ADR). I would like to own the other version but since it's so hard to get on dvd And a lot of people would probably prefer the 16:9 format to 4:3.
I do absolutely love the movie though!

I own the original cinema club version. On the back of the DVD case it says:
"Video Aspect Ratio: Feature - 16:9"
        "Dolby Surround"
        "Feature Length: 97 mins"
On the new 2011 release. Amazon states that the running time is 94 minutes. Is this true? Can someone who's bought the 2011 release confirm this?
If it's true. 3 minutes have been cut from the new release.

So why has IMDb got it at 101 minutes?

I bought the newer release last week in the HMV sale and I'm really disappointed. Not only is it 4:3 but it's some kiddy friendly version with all the sex and nudity removed. The new cut of Trent's dive is awful too, switching from shots from the main version (sans nudity) to shots of him in underpants. It looks really messy.
Anyway, the main feature including credits clocks in at around 96.5 mins. Without credits it's 94 minutes - I don't know if this is where the confusion lies.
Can anyone confirm what the cinema club version has - is it equally some TV friendly effort?
The BBC in the UK show this fairly regularly and completely uncut. I have no idea why the DVD doesn't.
I'd return this if I hadn't bought it from the ailing HMV.

now that its 13 years later they should do a sequel with the theme reversed. Asume Pam got pregnant right before Trent left town. And 13 years later their son tries to befriend A now 24 year old Devon and makes her help him look for his father Trent. call it lawn dogs 2 and have the boy be a weekend lawn mower just like Trent was

                  Hold the phone- PANTS?
In what scene, the diving bit? Are they just CGI pants put over the top? Hilarious. I'm glad this film has had a new release but wish it hadn't been edited- it is never going to be a kids film even if there are no naked bums on display.

They shot alternate takes during shooting, there's no CGI censoring in the film. The same version was used for the rental UK VHS, and was the only version I'd seen for a long time. I actually prefer some of the changes in the censored version, including the scene where Devonc catches her mum with the jock in the kitchen.
Give a thousand monkeys a thousand laptops and they'd all be writing their stupid opinions on IMDB.

Watched this on BBC1-HD yesterday, It wasn't broadcast in HD but had Dolby Sound and a very good picture. The sound quality in particular was phenomenally better than the DVDs, I never realized how poor the audio transfer was on the cinema club dvd. Still no sign of any Blu-ray I see, shame..
