I am very interested in this movie because it is said that Mischa's performance was great so I want to see her. But I also noticed some comments out there saying this movie touch pedophilia/abuse theme in a way people get embarrassed. I have seen some other movies about that subject like Pretty Baby, Bastard Out of Carolina, The War Zone, and I don't mind nudity. I am adult already, I saw the plot keywords and watched the trailer and so far so good to me but I am planning to watch this movie with my mother. She's 65 and like drama films but I don't want her to be embarrassed. She won't mind nudity but she would not like it if the little girl/man relationship goes too far.
Is this movie too uncomfortable or some people are just exaggerating? Please don't tell me "Go and test it by yourself first" because that would be too simplistic. Also I don't want to search for more because I know I could find spoilers.
Thanks! -

You and tour mother should be fine. There is no sexual relations between Mischa and the older man although a character does assume the worst. There is some nudity including some implied (non-sexual)nudity from Mischa's character which makes some uncomfortable.

You will definitely be fine, there is nothing like that in this movie. Trent wants nothing to with Devon in that wayshe is the only one in the movie that accepts him for who he is and is a true friend to him, that is why he is drawn to hernothing else! It's a great movie, I recommend it!

Thank you both! I watched it and I can say it is one of the best movies I have ever seen, with a twisted and magical ending which made me cry. Mom and I had a wonderful time watching it, we loved it!
BTW, I hated those parents. They made the little girl work! -

Well, I have seen quite a few in my lifetime (I'm 45 btw) and I honestly say it is one of the films dearest to me. I've seen so many that I had a hard time deciding which one is actually my favourite. I've seen Lawn Dogs 12 years ago (it's already year 2010 at the time I'm writing this) and I always keep it in fond memories.
