Is Quince a Pedophile?

Let's be clear. Being attracted to children isn't inherently evil. It's something that's burned into the brain. Acting on that attraction is evil.
One of the necessary steps to recovery from this type of sexual addiction is learning to acknowledge those impulses. Without acknowledging them the person will never get control over them. So I will ask you to stop telling my patients that their thoughts are evil. Their thoughts and attractions are their own private business. -

You're misunderstanding it completely. He's just a silly guy. That's quite obvious in the movie. When he says that his wife knows the worst about him and still loves him, he's referring to the fact that they love each other so much, regardless of their faults. Allison knows all the bad parts of him and still loves him and that's why betraying her father hurts him so much.

In my opinion Quince is just the type of person that says things and means them in an innocent way (just like when he told the board that the boss is depending on Joe) he is not the brightest guy (but always has the best intentions)I feel like it was just one of those things that he didn't even understand what saying "I love little girls" might sound like to othersya know?

Wow, no doubt that pedophilia has become an authentic witch hunt in America; anyone makes a comment, as innocent as it migth be and the inquisition is ready to go and burn him at the stake.
Anyways, like some other posters with common sense have pointed out, No, he was not a pedophile; he made that comment in an innocent way because the poor guy isn't very brigth and speaks his mind before thinking. They were talking about when Parrish's daugthers were children, so he made that comment, simple as that. His wife gives him a fierce look after that, like saying; Dude,
think
before you put your tongue into use! but that's about it.

It simply amazes me that folks jump to conclusions about something like this. Quince made an innocent observation and then "politically corrected" himself when he realized it sounded perverted.
THAT is what our society has come to.
And THAT is what has spurred this thread.
Quince is a simple soul. And his darkest secret? He's a dud in business. He doesn't have the inner spark to shine in the communications company. Despite this, his wife adores him. She doesn't "need" for him to equal her father or Drew as a "wheel." That's Quince's failing. -

I think pulliamrl has it exactly right. Quince is a basically decent man who drinks too fast and thinks too slowly. He is amazed that his wife loves him despite his weakness and ordinariness, but he is not a pedophile.

I think some people here are just being silly cause it's cool to think everyone else is "F-up"
We all got the point in the movieit's elementary. He said something like most people would and didn't
think anything bad until it came out and heard what he just said and everyone in the table got the
same idea, but knew he didn't mean it. It was a joke for the audience which is what we all got.
His faults I'm sure are normal character flaws most of us have and no it wouldn't necessarily be that
of a pedophile. It's just the cynical way some of us like to indulge ourselves in. It really is an
unoriginal way of thinking. I tend to think of it as a personality trend.
It's just a contemporary mentality of seeing things very cynical. We see things
half empty or think the Tele-tubbies are all gay. It's sad we are all programmed like
this because of the contemporary comedies we watch like the Simpsons and Family guy or anything
else which is essentially disfunctional comedy where we see everything funny that is not
wholesome and point fingers at things which are pure.
We are in a generation of deconstruction. Destroy everyhting that is beautiful or meaningful
and waste all our resources while we are at it.
Most of us proabably grew up in the 80's and were raised with all these good natured
shows (cartoons and sitcoms although they were out for the green with their toy lines and
merchandise). They all still gave us a great message. Now we see things through those same 8-year old
eyes yet we are almost expected to react in the opposite way that we naturally feel.
It's just a trend like everything else. Personalities can also be trendy and that is what you are getting
in this reaction.
My 2 cents. -

Yes quince thought he was scoring points and bonding with his lady by "loving" everything she said and looked like a doofus for not actually listening to what she was saying which she suspected all along but had to elicit in public to make it clear they were not a good look.

No..most of us probably did not grow up in the 80's. There are quite a few, including myself..who came long before your precious 80's arrived.
Being in defense of, or wary of pedophiliawhether it is inferred or defintely confirmed..is not a fault!
The despicable sin and crime of pedophilia is on the rise in our sick society, and those of us who care about protecting our children so they can have a normal, natural childhood; had better be on constant guard. If a person is in my immediate presence and makes a comment whether in jest or seriousness about something questionable against children..I WILL DEFINITELY ADDRESS THEM!

I laughed out loud and said what the hell at that scene because it was so out of the blue. I don't think he is a pedophile i think he just says some random stuff sometimes.

Pedophile? wow! My question is why would your mind even take you there to that thought. There is nothing about Quince that suggest that he is a pedophile. I think he's a little simple and weak but a pedophile no way.

Ok, I guess my mind's in the gutter or something, too, because I just watched this with my wife last night (she LOVES this movie) and I thought the same thing. I fully expected him to follow it up with something like, "Not like THAT!" After his wife shot him that if-looks-could-kill glance, he didn't say anything. I thought that was just weird.
