It is not just about the boat sinking. It is a love story and one about personal growth, but yeah, they also give a very personal, tragic take on something usually only talked about as an historic event. Makes you imagine what they were feeling.
You could say 2001 is just a movie about space or whatever.

Nah, it's just that love often comes attached to bad ****. The love itself isn't bad. It's the loss of love, the mixture of love and toxicity, etc. that's bad.
