Yeah, it's just kinda meh for me.
I think I watched it first on commercial TV and bits of it here and there on a movie channel.
One viewing start to end is enough.
Otherwise it gets boring and long.

Titanic was designed as a Gone With The Wind epic romance for the end of the millennial. It worked, but Wind is and always will be far superior.

So each generation 70 years or so apart has to have the backdrop of a true life tragedy to find true love for the movie?
        Seems legit.

I've only seen it once as well when it first came out, and I have no desire to ever watch it again!

It hit an iceberg Christina and tore its bow open. That is true history.

Things change and there are new cults you can join.
Ellen, Tim and Johnny all have fan clubs.

I’m not certain you did. It was just a random comment.
If Titanic could be considered to have a cult following now, it would be from a very simplistic mind-set regarding movies.

It’s a good melodrama. The main theme by James Horner is awesome. Also I liked Bill Paxton in the scenes set in the present. I miss that dude.

Nope. I don't care for this film at all because I couldn't stand the sappy bullshit romance between the two dull fake main characters. A Night to Remember is by far the superior movie about the tragic sinking of the Titanic on her maiden voyage.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
