                I wouldn't say it's overrated most people think it's Kubrick's worst movie.

I saw "The Shining" on the big screen recently. It is easy to detect Kubrick's controlling nature in the film, which I think hurts it a bit.
But overall, the film is very watchable. Jack overacts, which would seem appropriate for the role. I prefer watching Shelly here. She is sympathetic the whole time.

I've never seen it at the cinema. I can sense Kubrick thinking when watching his films. It can be distracting.
I am contemplating going to see Carpenter's

on Friday night at the cinema. A more natural and real kind of horror presentation that Kubrick would have likely seen beneath him.

                                      The 1978 original?
If you do get the chance to see it, by all means…
John Carpenter kept things very simple in his straightforward rendering of terror. I like many of Kubrick's films without being a fan. With "Halloween" and "The Fog", I am a John Carpenter fan. I also think his scores for both these films were just wonderful, adding immeasurably to the films' overall impact.
Yeah, I think Kubrick does not seem like he would have been approachable.

                                        The 1978 original?
                                        Yup!
                                        Halloween Kills
has just been released and the complex is doing a special Halloween weekend screening of the very original.
I have seen heaps of times on vhs and dvd, but never on the big screen. I will have to see how I feel though tomorrow evening.
When I went to the movies earlier this week with a buddy, I nodded off for 5-10 mins.
Kubrick was a control freak and wanted the perfect shot/take and the controlling stamp on his style can be very evident.
Carpenter is a very technical director too, yet his approach appears more free-flowing and easier going.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?
