Two interesting things to note:
Whenever Dr. Gull transforms into the ripper whatever was ailing him physically seems to disappear.
Also, Inspector Kidney didn't seem to notice that Gull's eyes had gone black. Or maybe he was used to it.
I wish Gull had kept the black eyes when he was being tried by his fellow Masons. -

I think it was just a very dramatic way of suggesting the "possession" of Dr Gull, not that his actions had anything to do with being possessed
But honestly, given the content of the movie -that sounded/looked like the 1st movie of young film makers, and not very bright or innovative, the awkward developments (the Freemasons, hahahha) and actions didn't really strike me as anything significant. I think the whole movie was supposed to be a "in your face" kind of movie, though it was not a smart movie -

We see earlier in the film that he consumes Laudanum before he kills his pupils are dilated because he's high.
Witty closing remarks have been replaced by massive head trauma and severe hemorrhaging. -

If he had consumed Laudanum then his pupils would have been constricted not dilated since Laudanum contains an Opiate which constricts pupils. Sorry, don't normally like correcting people but that bothered me a little bit lol.
