What spell did the aunts cast?

They cast a spell to make him and Sally fall in love. That's why Sally and him suddenly run to each other to kiss. They just assumed because they instigated the love between them, he wouldn't die from the curse but they were wrong.

My interpretation is that they cast a love spell of sorts so she could find happiness, even if it was an illusion created first by the spell. Perhaps not a love spell per say, but an infatuation spell? Something to set things in motion. Aunt Jet"It was just a little push."
For the curse to play out, she has to really fall in love him and not just be disillusioned. As one of the Aunt Frances tells her: "We never expected that you would truly love him." -

My interpretation of it was that the Aunts had indeed cast a romance spell for Sally but it was more of a lust than a love spell, esp. not a

love spell, the kind that she had cast for herself at a young age. Love comes in many forms and in many shades. One of the aunts had noticed that she and a boy were kind making eyes at each other while they passed through town so I think they cast a more generic spell to encourage her to flirt back, or maybe just get out there and date! It wasn't healthy for her to stay cooped up with them all the time. I think they just wanted her to be more open to the possibility of love but since she had been sheltered and repressed for so long, maybe her own emotions just went into overdrive, causing her to become completely enamored and (almost literally) jump him! -

I don't think it was a love spell, but more of a spell to get her some guts to start living a life like Gillian was and, sorry if this is crass, to get laid because she was lonely w/o Gillian. I just watched it and it was right after Sally read the letter from Gillian and said something about Gillian going through so many men and that she missed her then she made eyes with that dude. When Sally's husband died and she went to the Aunts house begging them to cast a spell to bring him back, the Aunts tell her it was a spell to give her a little push and they never expected her to fall in love with him.
I'm erasing you and I'm happy!
