I'm not saying it would
deserve
to be, but I think that if not for Jar Jar, audiences would have been more forgiving of its other flaws and given it higher ratings. -

You know this movie has glimpses of a great movie. Not all the acting is terrible. A lot of the plot points I like and I even like the political thriller it tried to have but it just made it too much about the politics. That should've been the backdrop. Cut Jar Jar, make the Nemoidians not a racist caricature. Make Anakin a little older and a better actor. Polish the dialogue and run time and it honestly could've been a solid film. I like it still and defend it more than most, but there are some glaring flaws for sure

Maybe Jar Jar and the pod race and Anakin and the poor dialog and the stupid battle droids and the plot and leaving Anakins mom behind and the uninspired performances and all the Gungans and well, I think there's more than just Jar Jar.

I think hype would have propelled it up the list, at least temporarily, as it has a lot of franchise movies with large fanbases.

Oh absolutely, hype and large fanbase can do wonders :what do you think of TFA being in the Top 250 ?
Good example.

I'm not so sure, on further reflection, Jar Jar is the least of the movies problems. Quite honestly it's pretty boring. The characters are pretty lifeless and aside from the lightsaber duel and some of the pod race the characters are just going through the motions.
