I had the same question. I ran through the episode again and couldn't figure out how or why they went from the torture scene (blowtorch, etc.) to the member-berry in the trunk? Hardly a big deal; but kind of a plot hole.

We already saw that it's fairly easy to kill Member Berries. One of the guys brought them to Randy's support group, and Randy asked if he had them, and just smacked his shirt pocket, juice went everywhere, and he said "no".
And then, 2 episodes later, they can't die?

Well, the Member Berry they were going to kill was pretty banged up and bleeding (when it had been shown they bounce right back from any damage they receive), so maybe Randy was on the verge of discovering their weakness, and the other member Berries decided to finish the job before Randy could discover how to ultimately kill them all.
