It's been a tradition for decades that when a spouse of a visiting Foreign leader visits the capitol, America's First Lady would accompany the spouse visiting local schools, museums, gardens, etc. while their spouses conduct business. This didn't happen today with our new First Lady and the First Lady of Japan.
While their husbands went off to conduct their business, the First Lady of Japajnl (Aikwe Abe) visited two pre-scheduled locations on her own: Gallaudet University, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival committee meeting at the Japanese embassy. Melania was nowhere to be found with her, as Mrs. Abe navigated solo.
In 2015, her last visit to the US, Mrs. Abe was the guest of Michelle Obama, who escorted her to an elementary school, where the two women were cheered by students. Later that day, they reunited once again at a state dinner.
Prior to that, Mrs. Abe was escorted by First Lady Laura Bush in 2007, meeting her for tea at Bliar House and then walking with her to the White House for dinner. The two women also went walking with each other through the gardens of Mt. Vernon.

Well, apparently, this didn't sit well with the White House as news outlets across the globe called out Melania for snubbing Mrs. Abe. This morning, she sucked in her cheeks, and decided to tour the Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden in Del Ray Beach with Japan's First Lady, who accompanied the Trumps to Florida for the weekend.
Her new senior adviser commented that Melania 'has a deep, personal commitment in her role of 'nurturer and caregiver'' and believes 'there is a connection between a child's mind and a place for beauty'.
Surelet's give that statement to Melania herself, and ask her what it means. I'm betting she's stumped.
Better yet, let's ask her what she loved most at the Morikami Museum - bet she answers "The DaVinci".
