Ivanka Trump and her hubby Jared Kushner have finally settled on a home in Washington, DC and it looks like the $5.5 M dollar home they will reside in is within a rock's throw from President Obama's new digs.
President Obama and his family will be less than two blocks away from Ivanka and her brood, in the Kalorama neighborhood. The Obamas settled on one home to rent for his post-Presidency a short while ago, and Ivanka closed the deal on her 6 bedroom mansion just recently. It is not certain whether she bought the home, or will be renting it as well. The house itself was sold on December 22.

Very good question.
I'm guessing that when you are The First Lady (Ivanka), you need to make adjustments like moving your whole family.
When you're the has-been Trophy wife (Melania), you don't.

I thought I read the Obamas were moving to California. Did I dream that, LOL!

Welllll, yeah James! If your father is Donald Trump, everything you say and everything you DO will be "suspect". His kids are in for a rough time since they will have to pass the "liberal holier than thou" test every day.

Contrary to your insane belief, it doesn't matter who the president is. Their adult children should not be involved in the running of this country. They were not elected to office, and this should not be seen as some sort of family dynasty. Just like people complained about Hillary being influential when her husband was president, why is it suddenly okay for some conservatives (like you and JA) to have Ivanka deeply involved/influential?
Funny what some conservatives suddenly find ok cause it's Trump. -

Gee where exactly am I "insane". Kinda harsh!
When Bill Clinton was running he touted himself and Hillary as "the blueplate special." The voters were essentially getting "two for one." I never had any real problem with that. His wife was an educated woman, an attorney and I was sure that he would listen to her advice. In every Presidency there is "pillow talk". The wives of presidents obviously have some input, some influence on their husbands. The problem was when Pres. Clinton put Hillary in charge of Health care, ONE SIXTH of our economy. And no one voted for her! I still don't want the government in charge of health care, much less someone who is only married to an elected official and making these decisions for the country.
When President Wilson suffered a stroke, his wife Edith was in charge and decided what to bring to the President. She was essentially running the executive branch of the government, not that the country knew it at the time.
JFK appointed his OWN brother as Attorney General. I am sure he was confident that his brother would have his back and he could count on his complete loyalty. Makes sense, but it was still nepotism.
You don't think that happens in most Administrations?
As for Ivanka, she bought a HOUSE! She wasn't appointed Secretary of State. I WILL wait until Trump gives her a prominent position in his cabinet before I pass judgement. Considering how "the knives are out" for Trump, I don't blame him for trusting family.
I don't find everything "okay" just because it is Trump. I am defending Trump's family against every "insane" (to me) attack on their behavior. He hasn't even taken office yet and Ivanka is being attacked for buying a house!
Seriousy, lest I be accused of another strawman argument by Hester (although she SAYS she has me on ignore)you DON'T think Mrs. Bill Clinton woud have put Mr. Bill Cinton in some prominent post, along with her daughter, if she was elected President? Do you think pvd and Hester would be wetting themselves if Chelsea Clinton bought a house in D.C. to be "close" to mom while she was running the country?
Come on, be fair! I am not going to give Pres. Trump a pass on EVERYTHING. I am not that insane (at least not yet, LOL)

My point is when it's a Democrat or Liberal, you all lose your minds, but suddenly when it's a Republican, you don't have a problem with it. The other fallback is "wait and see," when you would not be espousing that idea for a "liberal."
I just find the hypocrisy amusing. -

I'm sorry. I don't recall H.W.'s kids moving to DC. WTH does her father being PEOTUS have to do with his ADULT child moving to DC?
Bush's kids weren't part of Bush Sr's administration. Like it or not Ivanka and probably Kushner are gonna key players officially or non-officially in the Trump admin. So it makes sense that she would be getting a place in DC. -

I would say most intelligent Americans, including myself, do not like it.
What do you and the other side say?
