I honestly don't think he knows what the job of POTUS entails, unlike Hillary and most of the other Republican candidates. He is in for a rude awakening.

Why is Ivanka moving to DC at all would be the better question.
Because the worst-kept secret is the fact that she will be taking 'a very active role' in her father's administration, and will be occupying space in the White House that has been traditionally 'reserved' for the First Lady.
Her husband Jared will be part of Trump's "inner circle of advisers" according to reports.
Now if this was a Democratic president who had his children this involved.well, need I say more?

I am saying that Trump has not even taken office yet, and his daughter is being accused of "heaven knows what". She bought a house!

Don't try to cover your hypocrisy with what you think people would say. Chelsea Clinton wouldn't need to move to Washington either. I'd have a problem with it if she did. The spouse being involved is one thing. I don't know any educated woman that wouldn't try to be a helpmate to her spouse. Only minor children should come with that package.
Buying a house in another state and uprooting your kids because your parent got a position there is not the norm no matter how you want to spin it. It's not like she can't afford to travel when/if they want to see her father.
I'm also not just concerned about Ivanka. Her husband and brothers don't need to be involved either. None of them were elected to office. -

I'm really not trying to "spin" anything. These people have money and power and I have neither. It's not like something great is going to happen for me just because I defend them! LOL
I am mostly defending them because I see how some posters have gone apesh@t over anything and everything Trump.
But really, "buying a house and uprooting your kids because your parent got a position"? Okay, not the "norm" whatever that is, but is it ILLEGAL? I don't think so!! No reason to think Ivanka is going to be crowned Queen. And the job of President is a bit more than just a "position".
On that same note, Melania DOES NOT want to "uproot" her son, so she's staying put and allowing Barron to finish out his school year in New York. And THAT has gotten HER criticized. So Trump family members move, bad, don't move, just as bad. Which is it? And does any of this "family affair" have ANYTHING to do with how Trump will govern??

What does Billy Carter have to do with this? He was Jimmy's brother, not his child. Billy did not move to D.C. He did not sit in on Jimmy's meetings with important people only to get a big loan from them. He was not running Jimmy's business that was put in a blind trust.

No one is saying that a President must be an only child with no siblings. The point is, relatives aren't elected by the people to have ANYTHING to do with running the government.
First ladies have had a traditional sphere of influence. . .and hopefully some men will one day soon have that traditional influence as well. -

President reagan had four adult children - Maureen was heavily involved in California politics and public issues. She didn't move into the WH, nor did she move to Washington, DC. None of his adult children had any part of meetings, or his decisions - though his wife did.
So why should Trump and his kids be so active in his administration?

pvd, I'm starting to think that Trump realizes NO ONE likes him. There are people who fear him, don't trust him, kiss his arse, but NO ONE likes him or thinks well of him. The only people who truly care about him are his family, so they're the only people he is comfortable having around him.
Whenever Ivanka sits in on a meeting, we need to SPEAK OUT. Whenever one of his sons or his son-in-law acts in an advisory capacity, we need to SPEAK OUT.
And, yes, I'll continue to speak out whenever one of his cruel, idiot sons murders an innocent animal and poses with its deceased body as a trophy. Such a fair fight when one of the combatants is shooting, no? Deplorable, truly deplorable. That has nothing to do with government, but everything to do with being a humane being.
