We survived Billy Carter, I think the Republic will survive this too.
What does Billy Carter have to do with this? He was Jimmy's brother, not his child. Billy did not move to D.C. He did not sit in on Jimmy's meetings with important people only to get a big loan from them. He was not running Jimmy's business that was put in a blind trust.
You really can't see the difference or the conflict of interest having Ivanka helping her father????? -

No one is saying that a President must be an only child with no siblings. The point is, relatives aren't elected by the people to have ANYTHING to do with running the government.
First ladies have had a traditional sphere of influence. . .and hopefully some men will one day soon have that traditional influence as well. -

President reagan had four adult children - Maureen was heavily involved in California politics and public issues. She didn't move into the WH, nor did she move to Washington, DC. None of his adult children had any part of meetings, or his decisions - though his wife did.
So why should Trump and his kids be so active in his administration?

pvd, I'm starting to think that Trump realizes NO ONE likes him. There are people who fear him, don't trust him, kiss his arse, but NO ONE likes him or thinks well of him. The only people who truly care about him are his family, so they're the only people he is comfortable having around him.
Whenever Ivanka sits in on a meeting, we need to SPEAK OUT. Whenever one of his sons or his son-in-law acts in an advisory capacity, we need to SPEAK OUT.
And, yes, I'll continue to speak out whenever one of his cruel, idiot sons murders an innocent animal and poses with its deceased body as a trophy. Such a fair fight when one of the combatants is shooting, no? Deplorable, truly deplorable. That has nothing to do with government, but everything to do with being a humane being. -

The only people who truly care about him are his family, so they're the only people he is comfortable having around him.
And even that support is limited. Melania is staying in another state not to be with him, making the occasional 'photo appearances' when absolutely necessary (Christmas Eve and New Years Eve); Tiffany is usually not in the picture; and his 2 sons haven't exactly moved to DC.
It's really his daughter/mistress Ivanka who is always around him, running the show and getting involved. I guess she is his sole beneficiary in his will?
