Republicans are not stupid. They know they are morally corrupt. And totally lacking in ethics. Having an independent ethics office would be like having an FDA agent watching over their method labs.

So removing it is akin to hiring felons to run the prison.

          Agree, andre and kindheart.
I don't trust Trump's remarks on the subject, either. He's happy to be "disingenuous" if he thinks it will make him look good. His henchmen are in place and he'll be happy to play good cop/bad cop. I wouldn't trust Trump as far as I could throw him. . .and I could never lift that mountain of fat and hot air.

He has kyboshed before. And he will kybosh again.

Whatever their reason for the move (and I can't think of a legitimate one), it seems pretty damned stupid. Especially with an electorate that hardly trusts 'em already.

My issue is they seem to have no concept of why they were elected. I felt that way when they made it legal for them and only them to legally profit from insider trading. The American people need to wake up and vote these people out of office. They don't represent us anymore. They only represent themselves.

Agree, zabbree. The insider trading is blatantly criminal.
As Joy said today, "They have no shame."
I think this ethics office incident was all a sham. Trump wanted to appear to be a hero. Look at the names of the 119 members of the House who voted in favor of gutting the committee last night. I called the offices of several this morning. A couple staff members were brave enough to admit shock. They know they're on a runaway train and they're taking democracy with it.
There's an August deadline on this. The GOP is hoping no one will be paying attention then.

                        SuperTrump is here!
When liberals in this world appear
And break the laws that they should fear
And frighten all who see and hear

Yet it was Republicans that wanted to be able to keep information about their corruption in house.

I notice you didn't care about ethics when the Dems were in charge.

I have no issues with anyone that commits proven ethics violations getting everything they deserve, and Democratic or Republican, they should not be able to police themselves.

I notice you never criticize Dems for ethics violations. So that contradicts, in action, your own claims, Miss Fair.

                                          Is that all you have?
A lie is knowingly stating something you know to be false. I didn't think that was a lie. I thought it was an assumption and based on the fact he didn't know what the hell he was saying. I thought it showed how little he understood about how the insurance industry works internally. Now, one could argue he should have come back and admitted he was wrong, but if you are speaking of outright lies, you'll have to do better than that.
