did y'all catch the show? Was the best of the season IMO. John Legend broke my heart.
I got what David Axelrod was trying to say I wish they would have let him speak though. Of course regardless of the reason behind Trump's rhetoric, the damage is done, but if Trump really isn't a racist and just an opportunist who seized on the country's angst, then, yes, that is insidious.

I did, pumpkin, and feel the same as you.
I have sympathy for John Legend; he's heard it all before and enough is enough. He's a father now and he knows what his daughter will be facing. Being a parent makes you much more sensitive to hate issues.
I too get what Axelrod was trying to say. Yes, the damage is done and God help us.

I am not a John Legend fan, but I appreciated what he said on the show. It's funny to me that there are people don't want to understand or acknowledge the racism this campaign has encouraged. IMO, Trump was just playing to the bigotry he knew would get him elected. It is hysterical that people crying about "jobs leaving America" elected a true elitist into office.
No candidate would satisfy everyone, but when those same people are still struggling 4yrs from now, they'll have no one to blame but themselves. Cue the people blaming President Obama. They'll be the same one's that argued President Obama could not blame former President Bush. LOL I just hope they allow Trump finish his first term and don't try to impeach him. Pence is a far worse option for America as whole and a proven denier of women's rights.

You are echoing David Axelrod's point, zabbree. I agree that if that is the case, then it is much more dangerous than if he were really a racist. I don't know how Trump can reconcile what he's done, the forces he's corralled and emboldened with the fact that his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are Jewish.

yeah, I caught the show - and how Maher completely looked like a fool. First, he starts out the show talking about marijuana and states passing itHe couldn't even bring himself to congratulate the new President-elect. Then later on when he was showing "Future Headlines" for when his show is own hiatus - what a complete bomb! He really looked the fool, and hardly got any laughs. Jokes about Brad Pitt and Billy Bob joining together over Angelina? Fail. Jokes about Samsung phones catching on fire? FailThat was the best he could do!!
And John Legend? Who gives a crap about what John Legend has to say?
              That
is the type of thing that got Trump elected - because people are so damn tired of hearing about what uneducated and detached celebrities have to say! And I'm sick and tired of seeing his wife plastered on yahoo site every time I go thereEvery single day they have some article about her as if she is the most perfect person ever to walk the planet, and as if every woman adores her and wants to be just like her. Get over yourselves!

You do realize Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr, and John Legend graduated from the same university. He was also accepted at Harvard and Georgetown. John Legend started high school at age 12, graduated at 16, and he was his class salutatorian. I cannot stand Chrissy Teigen. I think she's an airhead that has achieved success because people find her "pretty," but John Legend is far from uneducated.

Then I do not include Legend as part of the "uneducated" celebrities that I mentioned.
However, Hollywood liberal celebrities as a whole - at least those who have been vehemently vocal against Trump (I'm sure there are many who keep to themselves because they don't want to get dragged in the drama, and some even who support a lot of Trump's views) have very much turned people off with their arrogance and denigration and insults towards those who do indeed support Trump. So many of them were so arrogant with their assumptions that "of course!" any sane person will immediately jump to support Hillary (and of course all women should automatically vote for Hillary!) that they were so detached and narrow-minded and so full of themselves that they couldn't look past their own little bubble they have been living in.
