I believe the lawlessness we're seeing now is a direct result of the backlash and constant indictment of the police. When children realize they have divided their parents, they also realize they have the control. That's not to say we can have lawlessness in our law enforcement either, but the media is doing its' best to promote the tensions and division; racial and otherwise.
I'm wondering if anyone watched the back pedaling the media did on election night to separate themselves from their behavior in this election. It was laughable also that they were astounded Mr. Trump won; he obviously was not their choice and they believed they had enough power to block his election. It was disgusting to watch them trying to cleanse their behavior knowing that now they had to depend on Mr. Trump's presidency to get their stories.
I have never felt the pride on election night as I did on this one. It was a pride not born in a Democrat or Republican root; but in a citizen root, knowing that millions stood up for their right to be heard. These citizens no longer wanted to be marginalized and called BS on the Democrats insistence that they are the party of the people. I'm thinking the "basket of deplorable" clearly stated how HC felt about anyone not buying her rhetoric. It was demeaning and unkind and clearly set her up as elitist vs the common folk she wanted us to believe she was.
It was long past time for the "machine" known as the Democratic party to be dismantled and revised to reflect its' constituents concerns. The Party is the strength, not the candidate. IMHO neither was strong enough to withstand the citizen's uprising. -

You've said in the past that you have young grandchildren, so maybe you can answer this question for millions of parents and grandparents who have children/grandchildren the same age as yours.
How do you explain to your grandchildren - especially the young girls - that the President-elect of the US is a misogynist, who calls women fat pigs, slobs, has pride in grabbing them by their pu$$y, sexually abusing them, saying they're 'bleeding everywhere', and accused of raping a 13 year old as well as his former wife? How?
How do you explain to your gandchildren that the President-elect finds it fun to insult the handicapped, Latinos, Blacks, gays, and labels Mexicans 'rapists, murderers, and drug dealers'? How?
How do you explain to your grandchildren that the President-elect was a business man who bragged about the billions of dollars he's worth, yet hasn't paid thousands of workers who were under his employ for the past 30 years, and thinks it's 'OK'? How?
And this is the President-elect which elicited such feelings of pride in you as never before. How do you explain that?

Well said! And I agree. Even though Trump was far from my first choice, I felt such pride that the rest of America finally stood up to liberal elitist bullying. It was a helluva moment. -

pvd- I will try to explain pride in my life. I did live through personal events that might have disabled others but my self esteem is intact. Mr. Trumps' rhetoric stunned me for a time, but I always came back to my belief that being manipulated by a woman and a party that I once more than trusted felt like a worse betrayal. I resented being told I must vote for a woman simply because she is a woman and the other candidate is callous at best with his portrayals of women. His record shows otherwise. Of course, that can be slanted in all directions and used against me too.
What I know is this; I have for years trusted my instincts. They are with me as a survivor; listening to my guts keeps me on track in both my personal and my professional life. My profession led me into some very scary places, but here I am advocating for Mr. Trump. Goading me with insults only makes me smile and trying to engender some guilt merely makes me smile wider. Mr. Trump spoke for the people and his election proved that. The people have spoken back. Now perhaps you can give him more than 30 seconds to perform his duties as President Trump. -

pvd- As for my grandchildren, they know me well. They know I do not make decisions without plenty of thought. They know I have empathy but do not tolerate lies. They know if they break Grandma's rules, there will be some response. They trust that I will keep them safe. They also know I love them beyond anything on this earth. My granddaughter is graduating college this year and we have gone over this many times. Because she is an adult she allows me my choice and respects my reasoning. She does not have to agree with it. My younger grandchildren will know there were reasons for my choice and will accept that. They will do their own research and decide whether I was right or wrong, but know that it was my choice and I made it for a reason. That, my friend is respect. You may want to research the meaning of that word.

No one is 'goading you with insults' - certainly not me. I'm asking: 'how do you explain to your grandchildren - especially your female grandchildren - how you supported a man who is a misogynist and thinks it's his personal right as a 'male celebrity' to violate a woman by grabbing her by the pu$$y? Many parents and grandparents are having an awfully hard time explaining how we have him as a President and a role model, never mind voting for him. But you seem rather secure in your position, and others may benefit from it - if you shared your secret on how you manage to do this, and sleep well at night. The parents and grandparents (and even teachers) I know are having sleepless nights over this.
BTW, no one should ever 'force' you into voting for a candidate because she, too, is a woman. That's plain ridiculous. However, self-respect and self-esteem should guide you into a decision not to vote for a misogynist who sexually assaults women. He could be grabbing the pu$$y of someone close to you one day.
And we have given Trump more than 30 seconds - we have given him 17 months, since he first announced his candidacy.

voting for Trump, and
not
supporting his abuse against women - both verbally and physically. (So did the majority of voters in America, as he lost in the popular vote.)
