Sure it is cheesy, but it is cheesy in a very good way, that is why some of us never get tired of re-watching it. There is nothing wrong with being entertained by a cheesy movie. William has a great set of quirky friends.

          Especially the
          theme song
that plays at the beginning & end
A most excellent comment but maybe you have not realized that it is an acknowledgment to the song "Jean" that was similarly used in one of my all time favorite movies "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" from 1969.
I won't try to explain the connection unless you come back and say you have seen and understand Brodie, but please watch it if you have not to date
HINT - the KEY words are "the top of the hill" [which of course relates back to Notting Hill].
I am sure you now see how it all fits together.

            Yep, brilliantly cheesy.

Are you talking about the Elvis Costello song "She" ? I think it is wonderful. Although I find the movie to be cheesy in a very enjoyable escapist way, I love that song. It rounds out the character Julia plays (who is sort of one-dimensional IMO) and makes her seem more like a real woman. Elvis can come over and sing it to me anytime.

Yes, but I like it because of the humour. Especially the scene where he pretends to be a reporter from Horse and Hound.

Quite cheesy butI thought itthatthe commentary on female-celebrity wasa bit ahead of its time.
As a huge elvisCostello fan, I am sad to say the song kind ofhas a grating effect.
Also take a bit of offence to the Boyzone lad singing that magnificent song. But there's some other great gems on the soundtrack like the Al Green number.

This movie is cheesy but in a brilliant, enjoyable, humorous, lovely way. It was one of the first ones I ever saw in the cinema.
