    I found it surprisingly watchable.

It wasn't for me. Had that irritable tone that I couldn't stand.

OK I just got done re-watching it.
The first time I thought it was OK because it was an interesting modern movie and I found it rolled along OK.
Now this time I noticed or paid attention to it more.
I might have missed the teacher/student sex but that Type A straight as an arrow so focused over achieving bitch does not seem like the slutty type to bang her teacher.
She had too much of a stick up her ass to have done that.
And him confessing to another teacher they are having sex is not plausible.
Also there was a lack of more teachers.
I mean, why was ONLY Mr. M involved in EVERYTHING like the student meetings and the election etc.
Where there no other teachers in the school to share the load of student things?
And since when are students allowed in school on weekends unsupervised to work on projects?
          Did your school allow that?
I agree there was too much sex stuff and there were no like-able characters.
Though the football player with his sweet, innocent and naieve ways was the only one I preferred.
Everyone else was a dick or a bitch.
I also don't why M, when he had sex with the other woman, did not do it in a bed.
And why meet at a motel?
She is now single and they have her house all to themselves.
I also noticed that Matt always has the same acting style.
As if he is uptight all the time.
He is terrible where his range never changes and doesn't seem natural.
It's like he is struggling to remember his lines and what to do and trying so hard not to **** up.
Interesting he brings up ethics and morals in the beginning and no one has them.
          Foreshadowing perhaps?
I guess that is what the movie is supposed to be about.
How all these people are assholes who don't care.
          Plus all those cupcakes.
Who the heck would have time to make a ton of them like that and spend all that money for them and just the two of them did it?

There are always one or two teachers like him: the can-do-all. They tend to be annoying and very perky, and I don't know how they have the energy and time to do that on top of what's going on at home [probably an empty life]. Then, there are the teachers who just show up for work, so they can focus on coaching sports after hours. They tend to be okay teachers but won't dish out a difficult class; they're more of a disciplinarian.
The sex stuff between Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon will never happen; most likely, she'll call it out on him. Whenever a teacher pulls something like that, s/he's suddenly behind the eight ball, and it only takes one phone call. That's how much power the student has.
I also don't why M, when he had sex with the other woman, did not do it in a bed.

That part is interesting, and they could've expanded this subplot. Then again, her abrupt rejection of him makes sense, too. That would've been a movie on its own.

I am not sure what you mean here.
Those two did not have sex with each other and showed no interest in doing so.
Reese had sex with another teacher who was fired and we see a brief flash of him as a store clerk putting price tags on spray cans near the end.
Matt had sex with his wife and that female friend of theirs.
That part is interesting, and they could've expanded this subplot. Then again, her abrupt rejection of him makes sense, too. That would've been a movie on its own.
Yeah I was thinking Linda tattled on his wife because she is a very close family friend, they are the godparents to her baby, and got overtaken by guilt.
He probably would have gotten away with it if it had been any other woman who didn't know the wife.
He was thinking with his smaller head being irresponsible at showing up late to school because he had sex with Linda and getting too excited to go to a motel room ahead of time when he should have been in the classroom.

I made a mistake, thinking they did, but it was with another teacher. Yeah, he hated her, and she is just a user to climb the ladder.

I don't get it why he hated her.
I guess he has a prejudice against over achievers who think/act like they are better or smarter than everyone else?
At the end he's a NY museum tour guide and is ignoring an eager girl who is the only one who knows the answer when he asks the group a question.
Yeah, he was a dick and maybe the worst one out of everyone.
The movie is about no one having any morals or ethics and doing bad things to get what they want.
                  Except the football player.
He was the only good guy.

That's probably it. The football player was just a cool guy, hence the Keanu Reeves vibe. By the way, I just posted the review for Zodiac.
