No Denying that.
Being Black and the First Black President ever, is a completely Impossible Feat of Epical Proportions.
Without strife, your victory has no meaning.
Without strife, you do not advance.
Without strife, there is only stagnation. -

President Barack Obama believes that if he were president 25 years ago, his economic policies would make him a moderate Republican.
During an interview with Noticias Univision 23, the network's Miami affiliate newscast, Obama pushed back against the accusation made in some corners of south Florida's Cuban-American and Venezuelan communities that he wants to instill a socialist economic system in the U.S. The president said he believes few actually believe that.
"I don't know that there are a lot of Cubans or Venezuelans, Americans who believe that," Obama said. "The truth of the matter is that my policies are so mainstream that if I had set the same policies that I had back in the 1980s, I would be considered a moderate Republican."
Also worth noting that his signature healthcare reform was modeled after a similar law enacted by Mitt Romney.

️ — 8 months ago(July 13, 2025 03:05 AM)I was talking on the phone with a friend the other day laughing how people were calling Obama a radical leftist who was going to institute communism, right before he was elected. There were cartoons on magazine covers of him with a defibrillator on the corpse of Marx.
He was not a radical left wing anything, hence the complaints of actual leftists.

He's the best president of my lifetime, but that isn't saying much. Like most presidents in our era of hyper-partisanship he has his detractors who won't credit him for anything and his fans who will never admit that he did anything wrong (although Obama himself actually begs to differ in his very well-written memoir). But it's 2025 and there are now fewer Americans than ever who were old enough to live through a truly great presidency, let alone old enough to have been politically aware at the time.

Same. I was just old enough by a few months to vote for him in '08. I remember Bush Jr. very well and sort of remember the very end of the Clinton administration, although I was too young to have any opinions on him at the time. And technically Bush Sr. was president for the first two years of my life, but I obviously don't remember him directly.
Still, I think I'd still say Obama was the best president of my lifetime had I been born any time after January of 1969. Carter is my favorite
individual
to occupy the White House since Lincoln, but he wasn't an effective president unfortunately.
