Because it's very very hard to write a good algorithm for linking movies. In fact many humans arnt very good at it either, which complicates the process further. Also, a couple weeks back I read about Netflix having a competition to write a better reccomendation program for them, so imdb isnt the only site with less than optimal performance in this area. 😉

I usually find Amazon's recommendations pretty darn good. Although, admittedly, it will often recommend stuff by the same author/artist or in the same series.

Maybe 'cuz the Schwimmwr character's life , when he's riding high ( In more ways than one !!!!!!! ) , in his big mansion , sort of suggests Tony Scarface's/the " mack daddy " life ?????????

But then how does this movie link up to Forest Gump? Lol, Forest Gump is a family movie, this one's more geared toward adults. They should include age restrictings in the searc algorithms.

Because Forrest Gump was a big boob?

They kind of took place in similar years, the protagonist starts out poor and gets rich in kind of a taboo way, and he also dies at the end. Not to mention the coke, booze, and women. I can honestly say that I thought about
                    Scarface
at least once while watching this picture.

They share several keywords like "rags to riches" & "cocaine" plus perhaps it uses people who gave breast men high ratings also rated Scarface highly.

It's probably a result of this movie having very few ratings. You can't call a trend with just a couple of data points

And now it has "Venus," "Eyes Wide Shut," "Short Cuts" and "Charlie Wilson's War," all of which seem off. Why not "Boogie Nights" or maybe "The Ice Storm"?
Really, I don't trust those recommendations, just as I don't trust (or understand) algorhythms.
