re-evaluation after 9/11?

I've been active on IMDB for over a decade and the one thing I remember changing after 9/11 was the comments about the film.
Pre - 9/11 the user reviews section (did they even have a BB back than or was it just user reviews back in 1999?) was people calling the movie racist and intolerant because it dared to paint terrorists wanting to strike at the US as being fundamentalist Muslims.
Post - 9/11 it was just the opposite. Far right conservatives were frothing at the mouth about how much "liberal propaganda" this movie was; for daring to suggest that not all Muslims are terrorists or that rounding up every "A-rab" in the city wasn't the best way to fight terrorism. -

Well, the first time I watched this movie was today, which is will be 11 years after 9/11 in 2 days. The fact that it was made in 1998 is what remains in my mind, it was only 3 short years before one of the most horrific events in American history.
We are still living in an unstable society, full of paranoia and remaining anti-Islamic sentiment and a broken way of life. In a way, those terrorist did win, they took what our nation's way of life was about. Our economy changed almost immediately, we entered a recession, our military entered one of the longest wars since Vietnam full of endless controversies. Though we never had cities closed off like Brooklyn in the film, we felt and are still feeling the effect of those terrorist effects that happened in 2001, 11 years later.
But, to answer the OP's question, my opinion remains the same I guess since I already watched it after 2011. I was 7 in 98, so I wouldn't have understood it to this extent anyway.
However, I feel that there are Deveraux's in charge of our Military that have not been called out and captured. I saw some really dark moments, such as the Army's judgement that feels like it is really happening, despite my limited knowledge as a citizen. -
