I am not sure whether the director meant to have the audience believe that it's supposed to be real whipped cream or not. Perhaps that was the intention, but to me it seemed somewhat evident that she's wearing a novel bikini and the fact that they didn't even try to show cream rubbing off on Mox's shirt or the towel, makes me think that the director wanted us to understand she just slipped into a bikini after all.
The noise from a whipped cream canister while she was in the kitchen was just a ruse, then.
But I'm with you, I think it would have been a far better scene had they made an effort to make it appear like it was real whipped cream and cherries. As it is, it's a bit lame.
