I remember expecting a stupid teen movie, but it was a very good film. A 6.0 rating is really selling it short.

I was on the set when they shot this and know the producers; they never thought this move would be as big as it was in the theatres even. It debut'd at #1 on its opening weekend. If you play football for a small town where football is life then you can totally get this movie. Everyone else is just on the outside looking in. The small football towns in Texas are still like the one in the movie. Football is all that matters. Crazy!

Im watching this movie for the first time in over ten years and think its tremendously underrated. Alot of people knock it for its lack of realism and cliches but even with its shortcomings, it's still a really enjoyable sports drama. In response to the above poster, Im from Australia and we don't really follow American football but this movie was still huge when it was released here in '99.

I enjoyed this film, wish I had seen it sooner tbh.

I watched this movie the other day for the first time and it was much better than I had thought it would be. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised with the story and the acting.

This is a superficially dumb movie that's actually quite smart once you get past the surface boisterous razzle dazzle. 8 out of 10 from me.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
