I always like the ending. Fate takes everything away from him. When he gets back he realizes he has lost everything but in a way reborn. We see him starting closing out his his past with delivering the package. Then fate steps in and he meets someone else who lost their love of their life, the name removed from the farm sign. He realizes it is fate giving him an opportunity to take another shot. After an emotionally exhausting movie it leaves us on a hopeful note.
Personally I like the redhead better than Helen Hunt.

"Personally I like the redhead better than Helen Hunt."
Remember that time recently when someone asked you who you like better, Helen Hunt or the redhead?
Oh wait, I don't either because it never happened. Tell you what, next time wait until someone asks you for your opinion before giving it.

I don't like the ending at all, but at the same time i like that its quite realistic. However, she states that he is the love of her life, we all know how much Helen means to Chuck. She mostly was his motivation to staying alive, looking at her picture every night for all those years.
So, she found a new guy, got married and had a kid. But are you really gonna tell me that this is the best choice for all involved? How would Helens marriage be after this event, she clearly still loves him. If not she wouldnt have ran after him in the car scene. The fact that he has to tell her to go back inside is another indication. How unhappy do you think Helen will be a few weeks/months down the road? Knowing that the love of her life is alive, and still loves her. Not to mention the divorce rate. Who do you think would be the first person Helen calls during a divorce, and maybe Chuck is now in the same situation. Making him unhappy again, and i know this just a movie so i have no idea why im carrying this on.
Anyways, my clich happy (makes me go to bed with a smile ending) would been if she was pregnant with Chuck when the crash happend, and he got to return to the love of his life, and a 4 year old child that gets to see his/her daddy for the first time ever.
Now, that would have been excellent.
