Is it a replacement for Wilson for him or is he going to deliver a new volleyball to the recipient of the original package? What do you think?

At first I would've thought he would keep it as a "replacement" Wilson, you know to ease the pain of knowing the real Wilson was gone forever. I think "he" would have either a) deflated and sunk to the bottom of the Pacific, which is like 5 miles deep and the extreme pressures of very deep waters would probably make Wilson combust into a thousand pieces, or b) Wilson continued to forever float and hes still floating somewhere in the middle of the Pacific now. Then Tom probably thought that no replacement volly ball was gonna make up for the real thing, so I believe he decided to deliver it.

He wasn't delivering that volleyball to the original Wilson's owner as he never kept that address. The ball was in the truck traveling with him as it was a comforting presence. Wilson was his only companion those long 4 years, and while this ball wasn't the same, it probably still was a comfort having it there.
