I was wondering why is that there was never another sequel to this film unless it was sequel to the other three films that Richard Pryor did.

Richard Pryor didn't make ANY "Shaft" movies
      It was Richard Roundtree

I just bought the DVD, and watched it for the first time, and I enjoyed the film. Samuel L. Jackson is my favorite actor and he did a magnificant job, and I am curious aswell why there wasn't a sequel. The budget was 44mil, and it grossed 107mil, I think that's a worthy enough amount to create a sequel.
