Samuel L. is so fly hes cool in ANY role.
Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Snakes on a Plane and Shaft are examples of this immense coolness he has. Kneel before him and worship!

Sam Jackson was not shaft at all.The charater was not his own man he was a police officer of NYPD.And that not cool,and he did'nt make love to women on film.And then we had stupid Buster Rhymms in the film that was also stupid.And Tony Singeltary he a stupid filmmaker too.
Sam L.Jackson was not sexy in this role and just was not cool there was nothing cool about the charater at all.And then the race crap they gave us no-one needs that crap.Shaft did deal with the so called white world,but that was more of a joke in the first film.The film was just crap with the race nonesense in this film.Shaft should be forgotten -

the problem with Samuel Jackson is that he's always Samuel Jackson. He doesn't 'portray' the character. Same goes for his role in Star wars. He isn't jedi master Mace Windu, he's simply Samuel Jackson dressing funny. And thats not too 'cool' hahahaa.

That is very true. Since most of his roles have him play the badass beep he is typecast as the badass beep I honestly believe he cannot do a serious drama because he will probably have no need for swearing, shouting or shooting.

Nah, I totally disagree man. I mean I respect your opinion, I always find myself writing supposedly controversial stuff on IMDb, but on this one I have to go with the masses. Jackson is the proverbial badass black man.

Samuel L. Jackson is cool. But not in the way you think of people as cool. If you can't find the taste for it then that's fine. I personally don't think that Clint Eastwood is cool. The only thing he can do is make the same damn face over and over and just whisper his way through the movies. But do you agree with that? No, of course not. That's my OPINION.

I actually used to really like Sam up until I saw Shaft. I mean he's awesome in pulp fiction and various other movies, but while i watched this movie it slowly dawned on me that sometimes he really just phones it in. His acting basically consists of him shouting every single line (strangely when it really isn't required) and swearing alot.. his catchphrase is basically beep
Too bad, because its spoiled any other performance for me. -

To anyone who doesn't think Sammy J is cooljust look at his resume. Seriously, if he wasn't "cool" he wouldn't have more than 25 years of acting under his belt. If he was a crappy actor, nobody would cast him in any roles. True, not all his gigs have been academy award winners, but there is obviously a demand for one of the "coolest" actors in the business today. Sorry if people don't agree,just MY opinion.

Bruce Campbell is the coolest actor ever, no matter the role, no matter the movie, he always steals the scene, and he does it without having to scream or otherwise TRY to grab your attention. It's kind of like Will Smith a lot of times or Steve McQueen.
That being said, I don't think Jackson is cool, he's a badass and I'm not sure whether to think of that as something different than cool or a different kind of cool.
I don't know if any of you saw Grindhouse, but in the second movie (the one Tarantino directed), he seemed to try and turn the black actress acting alongside Rosario Dawson into a female Jules, and it just didn't work. -

You're all pathetic. If Samuel L. Jackson would ever stoop so low as to waste his precious time reading all these crocks of B.S., he would track every single one of you down and hurt you, because he does a fantastic job of portraying an angry black dude.
But he's still the epitome of cool, while you are all busy thinking epitome is pronounced "epi-tome". Like a tome of knowledge. A BOOK.
