Uhh, easy everyone, its a remake of an exploitation film. It's not supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece. I love it though, I was always hoping that thanks to Bale's star being on the rise that they would re-release the DVD with the airport fight vs. Walter and Shaft which I believe is what made Bale want to do the film in the first place. Wright was amazing though.

i thought this was one of Bales weaker performances, don't get me wrong Bale is one of my favourite actors, he's awesome in The Prestige and The Machinist, but this one wasn't anything special.

His work in Shaft was kind of a warmed-over reworking of his Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, which is one of his finest performances.

              Couldn't agree more.
I had just recently seen American Psycho for the first time before seeing this one.
Amazed at Bale's talent, it wasn't very hard to see that the two roles wasn't far from each other. He's more of an beep than a psycho in Shaft but still pretty similar.
He's one talented actor anyway and totally stood out in Shaft.

He seriously considered not taking the role for precisely that reason. He felt he had done that role already, except this one was far more one-dimensional. Personally, I though it was lousy they had to make this about such a hate-based race crime, but there you go.

the fact that you had to go back so far to try to counter my original point, sort of proves my pointdon't you think?

No, it doesn't. Not at all. Why would it? How often do you think a classic villain comes along, anyway?
