The parents completely ruined it

There are people just like this. And if you can't tolerate them, that says more about you and your own antisocial problems.
These aren't people, they are characters in a movie. A lot of normal people find these characters annoying for obvious reasons.
If you can't tolerate REAL people with differing (and very common) views about the fake people, maybe that says more about you and your own antisocial problems. -

Yes! I totally agree! If they were to ever make a live action Simpson's film, William H. Macy would have been the PERFECT choice! However, yes the parents are the factor that took out all the suspense in the movie for me. It honestly felt like a Disney feel-good movie with Jurassic Park in the background. Sure there are some great scenes; my favorite being the airplane scene when attempting to flee the island and then the suspense afterwards. You really felt for them to escape the island once they landed. But after thatnothing else. Oh, and I do like the InGen compound scene, but again..the parents ruin it. I understand it's the writers ultimately at fault here, but when you are watching the movie, you don't think about the writers but just how annoying their characters are-save for Sam Neill.

I've seen a lot of movies and Leoni's character was easily one of the most annoying/selfish/ignorant characters that was supposed to be good/relatable that I've ever witnessed in a movie. I'm not the hyperbole type she's easily top 5. I actually was thinking that this movie was a bit underrated at 5.9, because I thought the plot was entirely more interesting than JP2 and that the visuals were still decent enough. I enjoyed the adventure type vibe of the movie, even if it didn't capture the spectacle of the original, but dammit, her character is worth at least negative 2 points to the movie score. William H Flanders wasn't the worst thing ever IMO, even if his character was written to be very selfish and deceitful.
