Whatever you do, don't read the book. I bought it from my library's book sale room. It's so disturbing, I won't even donate it, I'm throwing it in the trash. DON'T READ IT!!!!!

Really? The book is heavy and is completely different from the movie (thank Gods!) and you are right, it is disturbing. But I still found it to be a compelling read.
Read the last few chapters - depute the chills of the book, it does have a good ending.
Everything should be done in moderation - even moderation.

What is so disturbing about it? Is there child abuse or something?
It's been a long while since I've seen the movie and I've not yet read the book.
