why did tom stock his whole fridge with orange juice?

He wanted to see Samantha again so he could further his obssesion with solving her mystery. The first time he saw her he had just chugged a whole lot of orange juice then sat on his couch, looked over and saw her. He thought the orange juice might help spark another "hallucination" as he said.
